race logistics

terrain

The Maah Daah Hey 25 course offers as many descents as it does climbs, and they are usually not far apart. You will earn every downhill descent with an uphill climb, giving you the complete MDH experience. 97% of your travels will be on single-track with the other 3% a paved bike path to the finish line.

River crossing

You will not have to cross the muddy Little Missouri River, but you will have multiple small creek crossings. Some of those crossings will be wet, some dry, some rocky, some muddy. Be ready for anything.

aid stations

There are NO Aid Stations on the MDH25 race course. You will need to carry everything you need with you or have a support vehicle for this short distance race. Water and Tailwind sports drink will be available at the two Checkpoints located on the map below.

LODGING

Your best bet will be to stay in Medora, ND the night before and after the race. On the “south end” of the trail, book your Medora lodging accommodations through our official race partner, the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation. Accommodations can be booked here.

checkpoints

There are two checkpoints on the MDH25 course where the Maah Daah Hey Trail intersects the back roads of the Badlands. Your support and gear (SAG) vehicles can meet you at these spots. Both of these checkpoints will also have WATER where you can refill your bike bottles and hydration packs. Volunteers will be standing by at these Checkpoints to assist you and your SAG driver.

support vehicles

SAG drivers can visit our page with more information about driving the course and for directions by clicking here.  This page will have directions, details about the road, and other information specifically for drivers.

no more shuttles!

We are NO longer providing shuttles. EVERY participant must have their own transportation to the starting line of the race. EVERY participant must have someone available to get them off the race course if they are unable to make it to the finish. Every participant must have a way to communicate with their personal transportation. This is for the safety of our participants, thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

finish line

The race ends in Medora, ND. Electronic timing technology will immediately let you know your finishing time. There will be food and drinks at the finish line area, free for all racers and available for purchase for spectators.  The awards ceremony will be held at 11:00am.
